About Design Profession

Turning Design Home Into Reality

A Singapore aluminium carpentry team built on real projects, not just marketing.

Design Profession Pte Ltd designs, fabricates and installs custom aluminium carpentry for homes and institutions across Singapore, from our base in Toa Payoh Central.

Our Story

Why We Focus on Aluminium

Design Profession was founded on a simple observation: Singapore's climate is uniquely hard on traditional wood and plywood carpentry, yet most contractors kept building with it anyway. We chose to specialise in aluminium carpentry specifically because it solves the humidity, termite and durability problems that wood-based cabinets in Singapore homes face year after year.

Every cabinet we build uses honeycomb-reinforced aluminium panels and precision-welded joints, construction methods chosen for strength and longevity rather than just cost. It's a more deliberate approach than the industry default, and it's why our cabinets are built to last more than 20 years with minimal maintenance.

We work directly with homeowners across Singapore's HDB, condo and landed properties, as well as institutional clients including NTU, where we delivered custom hostel carpentry and are currently shortlisted for further tenders. The same construction standard applies whether we're fitting one bedroom wardrobe or an entire hostel floor.

How We Work

What You Can Expect From Us

Transparent Pricing

We publish real price ranges and provide itemised quotes, no hidden costs revealed midway through a project.

Real Project Photos

Every image on our website is from an actual completed project, not a stock render.

One Team, Start to Finish

The same team handles design, fabrication and installation, so accountability never gets lost between contractors.

Built for Singapore's Climate

Every material choice is made with our humidity and termite conditions in mind, not adapted from a temperate-climate default.

Proven at Scale

Trusted by NTU

We delivered custom bed frames, wardrobes and study desks for NTU hostel rooms, built to institutional durability standards. Having completed this project, we're currently shortlisted and awaiting confirmation on further NTU tenders.

Our Process

How We Approach Every Project

Every project starts with a site visit, not a phone estimate. We believe accurate quotations require actually seeing your space, understanding the layout constraints, and discussing how you use the room day to day. This is why our initial consultation is always free and never rushed.

From there, design and material selection happen collaboratively. We explain the trade-offs between finishes, hardware options and layout choices in plain terms, rather than presenting a single option and expecting agreement. Once a design is confirmed, fabrication happens off-site at our workshop, where honeycomb aluminium panels are welded and finished under controlled conditions before being brought to your home for installation.

Installation itself is scheduled to minimise disruption, and every project ends with a quality walkthrough before we consider the job complete. If anything isn't right, we address it before handover, not after.

Our Materials

Why We Never Compromise on Construction

Aluminium alone isn't a guarantee of quality, how it's engineered matters just as much. This is why every cabinet we build uses honeycomb-reinforced panels rather than hollow aluminium sheeting, and welded frame joints rather than screwed or clipped assemblies. These choices cost more to produce than the industry default, but they're the reason our cabinets hold their alignment and structural integrity for over 20 years rather than needing adjustment or replacement within a few.

We also use zero-formaldehyde finishes across our cabinetry, a deliberate choice given how much time families spend in the rooms these cabinets occupy. It's a small detail that doesn't show up in a photo, but it's one we consider non-negotiable.

Who We Work With

Homeowners and Institutions Alike

Most of our work is residential, HDB, condo and landed homeowners across Singapore renovating kitchens, wardrobes and bathrooms. These projects range from a single cabinet replacement to full-home carpentry packages, and every client, regardless of project size, goes through the same free consultation and itemised quotation process.

Alongside residential work, we take on commercial and institutional projects, most notably our completed NTU hostel carpentry project. These engagements require a different kind of rigour, formal specifications, tender documentation and delivery at scale, and we've built our internal processes to support both residential flexibility and institutional structure without compromising either.

Good to Know

About Us FAQs

We've built our reputation on completed projects across Singapore's residential and institutional sectors, including our NTU hostel carpentry work, rather than years in business alone. We're happy to discuss our project history during a consultation.

No, design, fabrication and installation are handled by our own team, which is part of why we can maintain consistent quality and accountability across every project.

Yes, we're happy to share references where privacy allows, and our portfolio reflects real completed projects you can review before committing.

Looking Ahead

Where We're Headed

Having completed our NTU hostel carpentry project and currently shortlisted for further NTU tenders, we're actively growing our institutional and commercial capabilities alongside our core residential work. Our aim is to remain the team homeowners trust for kitchens and wardrobes, while building the track record and capacity to take on larger institutional projects with the same construction standard we apply to a single bedroom.

Whatever the project size, our approach doesn't change: honest pricing, real project photos, and cabinets built to actually last in Singapore's climate. If that's the kind of contractor you're looking for, we'd be glad to hear from you.
